U.K. Regulator for Construction Products Issues Recall Notice for Batches of Kooltherm K15 manufactured between August 1, 2021 and March 8, 2022

UPDATE: The UK regulator has updated the information for this recall regarding K15 manufactured between August 21, 2021 and March 8, 2022.

On Jan 14, 2022, The United Kingdom’s National Regulator for Construction Products, the Office for Product Safety and Standards, posted the following on its website:

In its role as the new National Regulator for Construction Products, the Office for Product Safety and Standards served prohibition notices on 23 December under the Construction Products Regulations 2013 (and the Northern Ireland equivalent) on Kingspan Insulation Ltd to prevent supply and require the recall of certain non-compliant K15 insulation board.

The prohibition notices apply to the following products, on the basis of supply at a lower level of performance than described:

The notices require Kingspan to cease supply of affected product and to organise and implement the return of affected product from the market.

The company is required to contact any person supplied with affected product, those in the supply chain and final customers to arrange the return of all affected product, that has not been incorporated into buildings.

Notices requiring Kingspan to provide a detailed warnings relating to all affected product, including where it has been used in buildings, have been issued in draft form, as required by the Regulations, and will come into effect, subject to representations made by the company, in due course.

This is an ongoing enforcement action and is subject to the procedures set out in the relevant Regulations.
